The Houston Beida Alumni Association (BAA) was founded in Houston in 1997 as a non-profit, non-political organization registered in Texas, for alumni and former faculty and staff of Peking University and the former Beijing Medical University. The Beijing Medical University alumni association of Houston (founded 1992) later merged into BAA.
BAA builds connection, trust and cooperation among alumni, carries on Peking University's tradition of “Science and Democracy”, and promotes exchange with the alma mater in culture, research, technology and business.
Regular activities include the Boya Forum, the fall picnic and the Houston dragon boat team. The Houston BAA Scholarship, set up in 2009, was the first scholarship at Peking University established by a North American alumni association, and in 2014 it became PKU's first permanent overseas alumni scholarship.
